Sculptra® is an injectable cosmetic treatment that works as a volumizer and, over the long term, a collagen stimulator. Dr. Maercks uses this treatment to improve smile lines around the mouth, jawline laxity, recessed cheeks, and nasolabial folds. Other cosmetic injectables may provide more immediate results, but Sculptra is designed to produce gradual, long-term results through a series of injections over time. It is one of the most effective non-invasive treatments to address age-related loss of volume.
What happens during a Sculptra treatment?
There is no allergy testing before a Sculptra treatment because there is no risk of an allergic reaction. (The solution has been utilized in dissolvable stitches in over 30 countries for the last few decades.) Dr. Maercks will inject a conservative amount during the first treatment. He may also use a numbing cream or dental block to minimize any discomfort during treatment. After the injections are complete, you may be asked to massage the area in order to spread the filler and smooth the skin out for optimal results. Sculptra requires a series of injections scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart.
